Boudoir is a type of photography that shows a woman’s beauty in an intimate and sensual way usually for their partner to see, but possibly for other to see as well. What is one moment a woman may want to look the most beautiful either for herself or for her partner? For her wedding day, of course. A woman is going to want to look her best for this day and something a bride may want to do is a bridal boudoir shoot. Bridal boudoir is a mixture of beauty, sexy, and classy imagery, so it mixes boudoir and glamour photography.
For photographers who may be interested in taking these kinds of photos for their business, here are some poses and posing tips the photographer will want to use for these photos to accentuate certain aspects of either the model or her clothing/ accessories.
Pose 1.) Focus on the wedding garter around her thigh.
Some good photos to get from a shoot such as this one is to get the garter. The brides garter is a sot of sex secret under her dress that the groom takes off her at the end of the night and it makes the bride look sexy and slightly seductive in the photos from the shoot. Usually, like the photos above, the photographer will try to mainly just get her legs, panties/lingerie, and her shoes and garter in the image.
Pose 2.) Get the wedding shoes!
The wedding shoes will be hidden under the big dress most likely on the wedding day, so why not show them off in a sexy cutesy way? Try having her lingerie incorporated into the photo somehow, whether it be having it out of focus like in the photo on the left, or the heal though the cute panties on the right. Either way, the photo is playful in some way and it is cute yet sexy.
Pose 3.) Get the veil!
Its nice to get the pictures of the brides veil when she is not wearing any clothes because the sheer fabric of the veil will soften the lighting on the models skin and make her look much more elegant as well having the veil draped over her body nicely. Natural lighting is the best type of lighting to use for this in my opinion as well as a reflector to add a little bit of pop to the image.
Pose 4.) Bath bomb beauty!
Getting photos like these is good for if you just want a simple, calm, and cute type of image. It also can incorporate the brides wedding day flower choice in the white milky water, or if it is a fall wedding, put red and orange leave in the water to show what season the wedding will be. It is just a nice little touch to the bridal boudoir album that you will be giving to the bride as the finished product.
Pose 5.) Put a ring on it!
You will want to put some focus on the most important accessory on the model, her wedding ring. It’s the band that will connect her and her partner. Put the ring in the front of the image and either put the bride herself out of focus, or just have her in a pose that draws your eyes to the ring. You really want to focus the ring as much as you can to show the connection that was made between the two (or more) partners in this up and coming marriage.
So those were just a few helpful tips for posing when posing a bride for her boudoir images. Another helpful tip is to just look on google for some pictures. Its always good to get inspiration from other photographers to help with your posing for photos. Its great to be original and unique, but it also never hurts to get help from other photographers who focus on the same photography as you. Even just looking at normal boudoir posing ideas is good because you can incorporate the tips above into those normal poses. Anything can help, but what helps the most is making your model feel comfortable with what you are doing. She always wants to trust her photographer, so make sure you are able to gain the brides trust. Also, just have fun with it! These will be the before stress photos of the bride, so just have fun! Good luck shooting everyone, I hope this tips help you out in the long run!
